CACHI MOUNTAIN - Heigh: 20932 ft - Difficulty: High

Main Summit, Libertador General San Martín.
South Route: Along the Caves

Day 1: Salta, Cuesta del Obispo, 'Los Cardones' National Park, Cachi.

The tour begins after midday at the picturesque town of Cachi. After passing through the 'Quebrada de Escoipe', it rises through a path of rocks to the Cuesta del Obispo, whose highest point is Piedra Molino (Millstone) (10827 ft). Continue the trip through 'Los Cardones' National Park and 'Recta de Tin Tin'. Lunch at Payogasta. Finally we arrive at Cachi. Hotel night.

Day 2: Cachi, Algarrobal, Apaza House. Breakfast.

The tour begins after midday at the picturesque town of Cachi. Day 3: House Apaza, Rincón de la Mina.

Breakfast. In the morning we will resume our trip heading towards 'Rincón de Mina'. (15420 ft.). Camp night.

Day 4: Rincón de Mina, Nivómetro.

Breakfast. Ascent to Nivómetro (1750 ft). We will arrive after lunch and then set up our camp. Hydration and sleep are important to be well rested the next day and attempt the summit. Camp night..

Day 5: Ascent to the Summit.

Departure in the morning, around 02:00 am with backpacks and well sheltered because of the extreme weather. It ascends to the preview summit. Once on this preview summit we will make a brief rest stop. Finally we reach the summit of the Liberator San Martin, the highest point at the 'Nevado de Cachi' (20932 ft). Descent to Rincón de Mina. Camp night.

Day 6: Rincón de la Mina, Cachi.

Breakfast. Trekking back to Cachi to celebrate our success. Return to Salta in the afternoon.

Day 7: Cachi, Salta

Breakfast. Transfer to Salta City. END OF OUR SERVICES

» Usefull Information

Note: 1 or 2 more days must be foreseen, either because of bad weather or necessary to get correctly acclimatized. Both circumstances will judged by the expedition guides.
The company reserves the right to modify the itinerary or suspend any of the activities when climate circumstances or any other circumstances compromise the safety of the members of the group.
Optional: Transfer from Cachi to Cafayate by the Nacional Route N° 40 going through Quebrada de las Flechas. Night at a hotel in Cafayate. Next day visit to a Winery and return to the City of Salta. Hotel night.
